On December 21, 2001 Robert Shaffer, a realtor/associate broker involved in real estate sales and investments for over ten years, and Dane Smith, a multi-million dollar producing realtor/associate broker for more than six years, signed a contract with RE/MAX Regional of Southeast Michigan to purchase a RE/MAX franchise, to later be named RE/MAX Acclaim. 

After less than seven months of feverish planning, hiring, recruiting, maintaining their personal real estate sales and managing the Appraisal Company that they co-own; Rob and Dane opened the doors to RE/MAX Acclaim on July 1, 2002 at 31581 Gratiot Avenue in Roseville. Located just south of Masonic Avenue on the southbound side of Gratiot Avenue. 

To date, RE/MAX Acclaim is home to more than fifty experienced and professional real estate agents, Nine members of an elite support staff, in-house mortgage and title companies. 

In February 2003, at the 2002 RE/MAX Regional Awards Banquet, Rob, Dane and RE/MAX Acclaim were awarded the top three awards in the region – a task that has never before been accomplished by a rookie office, much less one that was only open for six months of that year. The Top Recruiting Office Award (non-RE/MAX Agents) was presented with a stunning Baccarat Crystal Vase. The Top Overall Gain in Agents Award – Golden Eagle Award – was presented with a trophy of a gallant Eagle. The Broker/Owner of the Year Award – was awarded with a plaque of merit. All three are displayed with much pride at the office. 

In February 2004, at the 2003 RE/MAX Regional Awards Banquet, Rob, Dane and RE/MAX Acclaim were awarded the Broker/Owner of the Year award for the second consecutive year. Later that month at the 2004 RE/MAX International Convention in San Diego, California, Rob and Dane were awarded the 2003 RE/MAX International Broker/Owner of the year award. Awarded by the founders of RE/MAX, Dave & Gail Linigar, presented to Rob and Dane at the awards banquet. In April 2005, RE/MAX Acclaim was recognized in Crain’s Detroit Business for being one of the top 25 Real Estate offices in Southeastern Michigan and also recognized as the top office for a 96% gross sales gain from 2003-2004.

As of November 2004, RE/MAX Acclaim has now expanded to 10,000 square feet of professional office space that they have been filling at a rapid pace. 

Rob and Dane continue to recruit and service not only their personal clients but also their agents and their agent’s clients with quality and professionalism like none other.
